Step Four? Five? Who knows at this point.

I awoke early which for me is before 5 AM.  I goofed around for a while and finished my packing. Before seven I was on the road.  I drove.  And drove.  Some eight hours later I was checked in at the Boulder Station Casino in Las Vegas.  A quiet night of tv and rest ensued.

Another early day after a good night’s sleep.  I had to go out and locate my team and get checked in.  This is a national tournament that is all well-organized and official so one must get checked in and wrist banded. I did.  My team , Damaged Goods, was at Big League Dreams where all six diamonds were being used to play the AAA bracket of this tournament.  There are 34 teams in the bracket my team is playing in, so we have our work cut out for us.

Our first game was against the LumberJacks from Minnie Soda.  They were good. Damaged Goods stunk.  It happens. We lost 22-5.  Embarrassingly bad.  Not only that but we had a loss in a double elimination tournament so after one game we were on the ropes.  Playing in the losers bracket and coming out on top is becoming a bit of a specialty with the teams I play on.

Next up was Waterford Realty out of Seattle.  We led them for the entire game. At least until the seventh, or final inning.  They took the lead by one run.  But we had one more at bat.  We managed to score two runs and win the game by one. So we get to play again one more day.

For my part I went two of five and played pretty good defense. I usually hit or play good defense, seldom do I do both. So it was a pretty typical day for me.  I will do better tomorrow.
